AeroPress Premium – the cult coffee press in glass and steel

Every coffee lover owns an AeroPress. Usually a slightly stained, slightly scratched plastic one, hiding in a cupboard next to the travel mugs. It makes great coffee. It just doesn’t look like it.
The AeroPress Premium is the same coffee press, rebuilt in double-wall glass, stainless steel and aluminum. Same brewing method, same two-minute cup, zero plastic in the chamber.
That makes it the rare upgrade gift for the coffee nerd who already has everything. Including an AeroPress.

What is the AeroPress Premium?
The original AeroPress came out in 2005, invented by Alan Adler, the engineer behind the Aerobie flying ring. Almost twenty years later, the Premium is the fancy edition. It launched for the 2024 holidays.
The chamber is hand-made double-wall borosilicate glass, so you can watch your coffee brew without burning your fingers. The plunger and filter cap are aluminum and stainless steel, and the scoop and stirrer are steel too. AeroPress says it brews 10 ounces (one or two cups) and stands about 7 inches tall. It comes in silver, black and white.
How does it work?
Exactly like the plastic one. Add ground coffee and hot water to the chamber, stir, wait about 30 seconds, then press the plunger down through a paper filter into your mug. AeroPress calls it part French press, part pour-over, part espresso. In practice: a full-bodied cup without grit, made in under two minutes.
You can also make cold brew, iced coffee and strong espresso-style shots for a latte. The difference is in your hands. Glass and metal feel nicer, and the double wall keeps the outside cool even with boiling water inside.
The good and the not-so-good
What I like:
- It’s beautiful. Erin Bashford at Tom’s Guide called it “a work of art”, and I can’t argue with that photo.
- No plastic in the brew chamber, if that matters to you.
- The coffee is classic AeroPress good. Tom’s Guide found it smooth and balanced, with no bitterness.
- The filter cap comes off, so cleaning the fiddly bits is easy.
What could be better:
- The price. It’s about five times the plastic Original for the same cup of coffee.
- Hand wash only. The plastic AeroPress goes in the dishwasher; this one doesn’t.
- It’s glass. AeroPress itself says it’s not meant for travel, so your camping AeroPress stays plastic.
- Small marks in the hand-made glass can happen, according to AeroPress.
Who is the AeroPress Premium for?
The AeroPress fan who has used theirs daily for years and deserves a treat. Also people who avoid plastic in their kitchen, and anyone who wants their brewer out on the counter instead of in a drawer.
Skip it if you’re new to AeroPress. Start with the plastic Original from our gifts for coffee lovers for a fraction of the price. Want a press that travels? Look at the FinalPress V2. For more gift ideas, see our kitchen gadget gifts.
Where can I buy the AeroPress Premium?
AeroPress sells the Premium on Amazon. The silver version was about 200 bucks at the time of writing (October 2026), and black is on the same page. It includes paper filters, a scoop and a stirrer, so it’s ready to go out of the box.
Same coffee, nicer outfit. Take my money!
