Beats 360 – headphones with swappable cushions you can wear to the gym

Big headphones at the gym are a bad idea. Ten minutes on the rowing machine and the ear pads are soaked. A month later they smell like a locker room. So everybody wears earbuds, and the earbuds fall out during burpees.

The Beats 360 are noise-cancelling over-ear headphones built for sweat. The ear cushions and the headband cushion pop off, so you can wash them, swap in a fresh set after a workout, or change the color to match your sneakers.

Swappable outfits for headphones. It’s a little silly. I love it.

What are the Beats 360?

Beats (owned by Apple) announced the 360 on September 22, 2026, and they went on sale two days later for about 350 bucks. That makes them the most expensive Beats over-ears. The Studio Pro stays in the lineup and dropped to $299.99.

The headphones come in Black, Cloud (off-white), Pink and Sky (light blue), with matching Performance Knit cushions in the box. Extra cushion kits come in those four colors plus Volt (neon yellow-green) and Navy. There’s also an UltraPlush kit, memory foam wrapped in a leather-like material.

The other big first: an IPX4 rating for sweat and water. Beats says no earlier Beats over-ear had one.

How does it work?

The cushions are designed to come off in seconds. According to MacRumors, sensors detect which cushion type is fitted and adjust the tuning and noise cancellation to match. You can wash the cushions in a mild detergent solution and let them dry.

The rest, on paper:

  • Noise cancellation with eight microphones, which Beats claims is up to 1.75 times stronger than the Studio Pro
  • Transparency mode, plus Adaptive EQ when both are off
  • Up to 32 hours of battery with noise cancellation on, and about an hour of play from a five-minute charge
  • Just under 300 grams
  • Physical buttons: a volume rocker, play/pause, power and a listening mode button
  • One-touch pairing on both iPhone and Android, plus Find My or Find Hub
  • A woven ripstop case. The headband doesn’t fold, but the ear cups twist flat

The good and the not-so-good

What I like:

  • Washable, swappable cushions. That fixes the gross part of gym headphones.
  • Tom’s Guide called them the best headphones Beats has ever released and liked the noise cancelling.
  • Wareable found the noise cancelling and transparency mode excellent.
  • Real buttons instead of touch panels, which is nice when your hands are sweaty.

What could be better:

  • The sound. Wareable called it unbalanced, with no custom EQ, and several early Amazon buyers say it doesn’t sound like 350 bucks.
  • Some reviewers and buyers report a faint hiss with noise cancelling on. A few early buyers also mention a tight clamp on bigger heads.
  • Tom’s Guide says Bose and Sony still cancel more noise, and there’s no wear detection.
  • No charger or USB-C cable in the box, and no headphone jack.
  • The extra cushion kits cost $49.99 each outside launch promos. Collecting all six colors adds up fast.

Who are the Beats 360 for?

People who want big, comfortable headphones for the gym and the commute in one pair. Also people who treat headphones as part of the outfit. If you’ve ever bought a phone case to match a jacket, this is your pair.

If sound quality comes first, skip these. The Nothing Headphone (1) are a better bet for music lovers. If you only want something for running, open earbuds like the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds stay put and let traffic in.

Where can I buy the Beats 360?

Amazon sells the Black and Cloud versions from the Beats store. The black pair was about 349 bucks at the time of writing (October 2026). Want Pink or Sky? Check Apple’s own store too.

Gift tip: add one cushion kit in a wild color. Volt, obviously. The Beats Pill speaker makes a good partner gift too.
