Every winter the heating comes on and my bedroom turns into a cracker. Dry throat, dry skin, a nose that whistles. A humidifier fixes that. Then three weeks later there’s pink slime in the tank and you’re scrubbing plastic at 11 PM.

The Canopy Bedside Humidifier 2.0 is a bedside humidifier built around that second problem. It has no mist, it runs on tap water, and the parts that touch water go in the dishwasher.

A humidifier designed by someone who has clearly cleaned a humidifier.

What is the Canopy Bedside Humidifier?

Canopy is a home wellness brand that also makes filtered showerheads. The Bedside Humidifier 2.0 is the second version of its small humidifier: a rounded box of about 10 by 8.5 by 7 inches with a 2.5 liter tank. Canopy says one tank runs for up to 36 hours and covers up to 500 square feet.

It also doubles as a sleep gadget. There’s a dimmable red light, a soft nightlight and three soundscapes (White Noise, Soft Storm and Rolling Waves). You can add scent too, with Canopy’s aroma accessories, sold separately.

How does it work?

Most cheap humidifiers are ultrasonic. They shake water into a cold mist, and whatever is in the water goes into your room with it. Canopy’s is evaporative. Water soaks into a paper filter and a fan blows across it, so only water vapor comes out. No mist, no wet nightstand.

The clever part is how it fights mold. On paper, it does three things:

  • The filter has a MERV 5 pre-filter and an antimicrobial core that catch minerals and dust.
  • Water passes a UV light before it evaporates.
  • Sensors keep the fan running after the tank is empty, until the filter is dry. Nothing sits around wet.

Then you clean it. The tank, tray, cap and grill go in the top rack of the dishwasher. The base with the fan stays out. You replace the filter about every six weeks.

The good and the not-so-good

The good:

  • Tap water works. No jugs of distilled water from the supermarket.
  • Dishwasher-safe parts. This alone is why I want one.
  • Mindbodygreen’s Carleigh Ferrante kept her skin hydrated through a dry winter with it and found the fan quieter than the first version on low and medium.
  • It replaces a white noise machine and a nightlight on your nightstand.

The not-so-good:

  • That same reviewer still refilled it every two to three nights, so don’t count on 36 hours in a dry room.
  • The highest fan setting is loud, according to her and several Amazon buyers. Some also hear the tank gurgle as it empties.
  • No humidity sensor and no app. It can’t stop at 50% humidity by itself.
  • The filters are a running cost on top of 159 bucks.

Who is the Canopy Bedside Humidifier for?

People who wake up with a dry throat every winter and gave up on humidifiers because cleaning them is gross. It’s also a good gift for the friend with the skincare routine of a K-drama lead.

Skip it if you want to humidify a whole living room. One Amazon buyer doubts the 500 square feet claim, and Canopy sells a bigger Large Room model with a 5.5 liter tank. For more bedroom upgrades, see our favorite sleep gadgets, or pair it with a sunrise wake-up light for a softer winter morning.

Where can I buy the Canopy Bedside Humidifier?

Amazon US sells the Bedside Humidifier 2.0 in White and Moonstruck (a gray-green). The white one was 159 bucks at the time of writing (October 2026). Canopy’s own site has more colors and a filter subscription.

Load the dishwasher, then go to bed. Same thing now.
