Levoit Vital Pet Pro – a pet air purifier that cleans its own filter

Every pet owner with an air purifier knows the ritual. You pull off the front panel, and the pre-filter looks like it grew a second cat. You vacuum it, you sneeze, you put it back. Two weeks later: new cat.
The Levoit Vital Pet Pro is a pet air purifier that cleans that hair off its own pre-filter. A little scraper wipes the fur down into a tray at the bottom, and you just empty the tray. Levoit launched it in the US on May 4, 2026.
A robot that grooms the air purifier so you don’t have to. I’m in.

What is the Levoit Vital Pet Pro?
It’s a mid-size smart air purifier for homes with cats and dogs. Levoit is the air purifier brand of VeSync, and it already sold older pet models like the Vital 200S-P. The Pro is the new one with Levoit’s Auto-Clean Technology.
The air goes through three stages: a pre-filter for hair and dust, a main filter for fine particles, and an activated carbon filter for smells. Smart Home Compared lists 140 grams of activated carbon in there, which is the part that deals with litter box air. Levoit claims it removes up to 70% of pet odors within one hour, based on a lab chamber test with one specific odor compound. Your actual living room may disagree.
How does it work?
The trick is the pre-filter. Instead of you peeling hair off a mesh, a scraper inside the unit wipes it off and pushes it into a detachable dust tray at the bottom. Pull out the tray, dump it, done. RTINGS also points out the U-shaped air inlet, which is meant to catch hair before it clogs anything.
On top there’s an air quality light that changes color depending on how many particles and smells it detects. Everything else runs through Levoit’s VeSync app: schedules, fan speed, sleep mode and voice control.
The good and the not-so-good
The good: the self-cleaning pre-filter fixes the one chore that makes people stop using their purifier. RTINGS scored it 7.4 out of 10 for pets and 8.3 for bedrooms, and found it quiet at low fan speeds. It also looks like a piece of furniture, not a hospital machine.
The not-so-good: it’s built for a bedroom or a small living room. Smart Home Compared lists a CADR of 148 CFM, and RTINGS says it will struggle to keep up in a big open-plan space. It gets loud on max. The main filter still needs replacing (Smart Home Compared says about every six months), so the Auto-Clean doesn’t mean zero maintenance. And RTINGS notes that sleep mode is only in the app, not on the buttons.
Who is the Levoit Vital Pet Pro for?
Cat and dog people who already vacuum twice a day and still find fur on their black jeans. It’s a very practical gift for a new pet owner, and less boring than it sounds once you show them the tray full of hair.
Skip it if you have a big open living space. Get a larger purifier, or two of these. And if the hair is mostly on the floor and the sofa, a good vacuum like the Tineco Pure One Station FurFree or a spot cleaner like the Bissell Little Green HydroSteam helps more. Spoiling the pet instead? Look at the Petivity Smart Feeder.
Where can I buy the Levoit Vital Pet Pro?
It’s on Amazon for about 180 bucks at the time of writing (October 2026), down from a list price of 200, sold by the Levoit store. Levoit, Target and Walmart sell it too.
Your cat will keep shedding. At least now the purifier deals with it.
