Bissell Little Green HydroSteam – a spot cleaner that steams the stains out of your couch

Somebody drops a slice of pizza on the couch. Cheese side down, obviously. You dab it with a wet cloth, it spreads, and from now on that cushion faces the wall.
The Bissell Little Green HydroSteam is a portable carpet cleaner (a “spot cleaner”) that sprays hot water and steam into fabric and sucks the dirt back out. It’s the newer, steamier version of the Little Green, the small spot cleaner that went viral on TikTok for pulling disgusting brown water out of “clean” couches.
Watching that dirty tank fill up is gross. It’s also very satisfying.

What is the Bissell Little Green HydroSteam?
It’s a compact cleaner with a carry handle, two tanks and a hose. You fill the clean tank with water and Bissell formula, pick a mode, and work the stain with the nozzle at the end of the hose. The dirty water ends up in a separate tank that you rinse out afterwards.
Bissell is an American company from Michigan that started with a carpet sweeper in 1876. So yes, they’ve been thinking about your carpet for a while.
The HydroSteam adds a built-in flow-through heater. Bissell says it heats the water and formula into steam, and that this cleans tough oily stains up to 50% better in its SteamWash mode. Its Amazon listing is model 3618, which Bissell’s own site calls the Little Green HydroSteam Pet.
How does it work?
There’s a copper dial on top with three modes:
- SteamWash for oily and sticky messes (that pizza)
- Steam for freshening up upholstery and for tile and grout
- Wash for spills and pet accidents
The 5-inch Tough Stain Tool does carpet, stairs and car seats. A second Multi-Surface Tool handles hard surfaces like tile, and Bissell even mentions sneakers. Bissell says upholstery is dry in about 25 minutes in Steam mode.
Features
- Clean tank of 64 oz, dirty tank of 51 oz
- 15-foot power cord and a 4.8-foot hose
- Weighs 13 pounds
- Comes with a bottle of Pet Pro Oxy Spot & Stain formula
- 3-year limited warranty, says the Amazon listing
The good and the not-so-good
The good:
- PureWow’s tester scored it 94 out of 100, with full marks for ease of use and steam cleaning.
- Real Homes found it lifted fresh and dried stains, including old coffee and muddy shoe marks.
- One machine for the couch, the rug, the car and the bathroom grout. That’s a lot of jobs for something you store in a closet.
The not-so-good:
- Real Homes also found it a little drippy, and some deep-set stains didn’t budge.
- Review roundups such as ShopSavvy mention buyers whose steam output dropped after a few months. That’s a reason to keep the receipt.
- It’s corded and weighs 13 pounds. Portable, but it’s not a handheld.
- It costs a lot more than the original Little Green. If you only clean up the occasional juice spill, the steam may not be worth it.
Who is the Bissell Little Green HydroSteam for?
Pet owners, parents and anyone with a light-colored couch. Also people who keep their car nice, or would like to. It’s a gift that sounds boring until the first time someone uses it, and then they can’t stop.
If the stains are mostly on hard floors, look at a wet-dry vacuum like the Tineco Pure One Station, or let a robot like the Roborock Saros Z70 do the daily work. For quick crumbs, there’s the VaBroom vacuuming broom.
Where can I buy the Bissell Little Green HydroSteam?
Bissell sells it through its own store on Amazon US. It was about 200 bucks at the time of writing (October 2026), on sale from a list price of about 250.
Turn that cushion back around. It’s been facing the wall long enough.
