Coravin Sparkling – a champagne preserver that keeps the bubbles for weeks

New Year’s Eve, 12:05 a.m. Everyone has had one glass of champagne, and there are three open bottles on the counter. By lunch on January 1st they’re flat, sad and headed for the sink.
The Coravin Sparkling is a champagne preserver: a stopper plus a handheld charger that tops up an open bottle with CO2, so the fizz stays put. Coravin says your Champagne, Prosecco or Cava keeps its bubbles for at least four weeks.
Is it a lot of money to save some wine? Yes. Do I still want one? Also yes.

What is the Coravin Sparkling?
Coravin is the company behind the famous gadget that pours wine through the cork with a needle. The Sparkling is its version for bubbly. In the box, according to Coravin:
- 1 Sparkling Charger
- 1 Sparkling Stopper, which fits standard and magnum bottles
- 2 Pure Sparkling CO2 capsules, each good for up to 7 standard bottles
- 1 bottle sleeve to wear over the bottle
- A one-year warranty
Extra stoppers and capsules are sold separately, so you can keep more than one bottle going.
How does it work?
Pop the cork and pour a glass the normal way. Then clamp the Sparkling Stopper on the bottle and press the charger on top. It fills the empty space in the bottle with CO2, the same gas that makes the bubbles. With that space under pressure, the bubbles in the wine stay in the wine.
The charger has a built-in regulator that stops when the bottle reaches the right pressure, so you can’t overdo it. Next time you want a glass, pour, put the stopper back and charge again.
One safety note from Coravin: a pressurized glass bottle can shatter if you drop it. That’s what the sleeve is for, so use it.
The good and the not-so-good
What I like:
- It solves a real holiday problem: the half-finished bottle after a party.
- You can open the good stuff for one glass on a random Tuesday, without guilt.
- Amazon reviewers report bottles that still taste fresh and fizzy weeks later.
- It works on any sparkling wine, from cheap Prosecco to the bottle you were saving.
What could be better:
- The price. TechRadar called it expensive and one for true bubbly fans, and I agree.
- TechRadar’s review lists about two weeks of freshness, short of Coravin’s four-week claim.
- Capsules are an ongoing cost. A six-pack was about 50 bucks on Amazon when I checked.
- It’s for sparkling wine only. For still wine you need one of Coravin’s other systems.
Who is the Coravin Sparkling for?
People who love bubbly but rarely finish a bottle, holiday hosts with leftover champagne, and couples where only one person drinks. It’s a gift that looks fancy under the tree, and it is.
If you drink sparkling wine twice a year, skip it. A cheap champagne stopper buys you a day or two. For the party itself, a Tipsi Tray helps you carry the glasses.
Where can I buy the Coravin Sparkling?
Coravin sells the Sparkling system on Amazon. It was about 400 bucks at the time of writing (October 2026), the same as on Coravin’s own site. Replacement CO2 capsules are on Amazon too. For more hosting ideas, see our kitchen gadget gifts.
