Insta360 GO Ultra – a 4K camera you wear like a necklace
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. It costs you nothing extra.

Every family video I’ve ever seen has the same problem: the person holding the phone isn’t in it. They’re behind the screen, saying “wave at the camera!” while missing the actual moment.
The Insta360 GO Ultra solves that by getting out of your hands. It’s a tiny 4K camera, about the size of a watch face, that sticks to your shirt with a magnet pendant and films what you see. You can also clip it to a cap, a backpack strap or a bike, or pop it on a mini tripod.
I don’t need one. I want one anyway.

What is the Insta360 GO Ultra?
Insta360 is the Chinese company best known for its 360-degree cameras. The GO series is its line of thumb-sized cameras. The GO Ultra came out in 2025 and shoots 4K at 60 frames per second, where the older GO 3S topped out at 30. It also swaps the fixed storage of older GO models for a microSD slot.
It comes in two parts. The camera itself weighs 53 grams and works on its own. The Action Pod is a case with a 2.5-inch flip screen and extra battery. Slide the camera in and it becomes a small action cam with a selfie screen. Take it out and stick it anywhere.
On paper:
- 1/1.28-inch sensor, 4K video at up to 60 fps, 50 MP photos
- FlowState stabilization with 360-degree horizon lock
- About 70 minutes on the camera alone, up to 200 minutes with the Action Pod
- 0 to 80% charge in about 12 minutes
- Waterproof to 10 meters (33 ft), but only the camera. The Action Pod is splash-proof.
- MicroSD storage (card not included)
- Works with Bluetooth mics like Insta360’s Mic Air
How does it work?
You wear the magnet pendant under your shirt and the camera snaps on from the outside. Or use the magnetic clip on a cap or a strap. Press the button and it records. The Insta360 app then lets you edit, and its AI editor picks highlights and cuts them into a short video with music.
There’s also a pre-record option that keeps up to 30 seconds from before you press the button, according to Red Shark News. Handy for “wait, film that!” moments.
The good and the not-so-good
What I like:
- Hands-free video from your own point of view. With kids or a dog, that’s the shot you never get with a phone.
- It’s small enough that people forget it’s there, so they act normal.
- Swappable microSD cards instead of fixed storage.
- Red Shark News says its low-light mode gives usable footage in very dark places, and calls the image quality close to Insta360’s bigger Ace Pro 2.
What could be better:
- No 10-bit or log recording, so it’s not for serious color grading.
- Red Shark News found it easy to start recording by accident, and the audio struggled in strong wind.
- It doesn’t fit mounts from the GO 3 or GO 3S, so upgraders need new accessories.
- Insta360 says not to wear it on your chest with the magnet pendant if you have a pacemaker.
Who is the Insta360 GO Ultra for?
Parents, pet owners, cyclists and travelers who want video without holding a camera. It’s also a great gift for someone who vlogs but hates looking like it.
If you want a rugged camera for mountain biking and diving, a classic action cam like the GoPro HERO10 Black is the tougher choice. And if you just want fun, cheap photos, the Kodak Charmera costs a fraction of this.
Where can I buy the Insta360 GO Ultra?
Insta360 sells it on Amazon through its own store. The Standard Bundle in Midnight Black was about 450 bucks at the time of writing (October 2026). It includes the camera, the Action Pod, the magnet pendant, a magnetic clip and a safety cord. There are also bundles with tripods, mics and bike mounts, and a white version. Remember to add a microSD card.
