LEGO Bookstore Book Nook – a tiny two-story bookshop that hides on your shelf

Readers are the hardest people to buy for. You can’t buy them a book, because they’ve read it. Or they own it. Or they own it and have opinions about the cover.

So buy them a bookstore instead. A small one. The LEGO Icons Bookstore: Book Nook (set 11379) is a 1,690-piece LEGO book nook that looks like a book on the shelf, then folds open into a two-story bookshop with balconies and a spiral staircase. LEGO released it on October 1, 2026, and it’s the LEGO set I’d want under the tree this year.

What is the LEGO Bookstore Book Nook?

A book nook is a little diorama you slide between your books, so it looks like there’s a hidden street (or in this case, a shop) inside your bookcase. This one is LEGO’s take, in its Icons line for adults (18+). LEGO’s reveal called it “Bookshop: Book Nook”; the US listing says “Bookstore”. Same set.

According to LEGO and the Amazon listing, you get:

  • a two-story bookshop interior with elegant balconies and a spiral staircase
  • an author’s workspace and quiet reading corners
  • small nods to famous books: a golden cup, a magnifying glass and a black cat statue
  • two minifigures, an author and a reader

Opened up, LEGO says it measures over 7.5 inches high, 15.5 inches wide and about 2.5 inches deep.

How does it work?

You build it like any LEGO set, with printed instructions or the LEGO Builder app, which lets you rotate and zoom the 3D model. Brickfact estimates the build at about 4 to 5 hours, which sounds right for 1,690 pieces.

When it’s done you have two choices. Keep it closed and slide it between your novels, so you get a narrow window into the shop. Or open it like a book and stand it on a desk, so the whole interior faces the room.

What I like / What could be better

What I like:

  • The literary easter eggs. Spotting them is half the fun for a bookworm.
  • It works closed and open, so it fits a packed shelf or an empty desk.
  • Early buyers on Amazon give it 5 out of 5, though from only a dozen ratings so far.
  • It’s sold by LEGO itself on Amazon, so no reseller markup.

What could be better:

  • No lights. Commenters on Brickset already miss them, and third-party light kits for 11379 are popping up on Amazon. Most book nooks from brands like Rolife have LEDs built in.
  • Two minifigures for 150 bucks is not generous, as several Brickset readers pointed out.
  • Brickset commenters also mention quite a few stickers. If you hate stickers, plan accordingly.

Who is the LEGO Bookstore Book Nook for?

Adult LEGO fans, book lovers, and the writer friend who would absolutely sit in that little author’s workspace if they could shrink. If they’d rather build something from wood with lights already in, our Rolife Fall into Wonder book nook is cheaper and glows.

For more brick gifts, check our gifts for LEGO lovers. And if they’re more retro tech than literature, the LEGO Retro Telephone is still one of my favorite display builds.

Where can I buy the LEGO Bookstore Book Nook?

LEGO sells it on Amazon and on LEGO.com. It was about 150 bucks at the time of writing (October 2026), the same as LEGO’s list price.

Just don’t lend it out. You know how people are with books.
