MOZA R3 bundle for Xbox: a compact black wheel base, a round racing wheel and two pedals on white pedestals

Playing Forza with a controller is fine. Right up to the moment you try a wheel and actually feel the car slide. After that, your thumbs feel very small.

The problem: a proper sim racing setup sounds like a second mortgage and a spare room. The MOZA R3 is the shortcut. It’s a complete racing wheel bundle for Xbox and PC, with a direct drive wheel base, a wheel, two pedals and a clamp to bolt it all to your desk.

Direct drive used to be the expensive stuff. This bundle brings it down to about 340 bucks.

What is the MOZA R3?

MOZA Racing is a sim racing brand from Gudsen, a Chinese company that also makes camera gimbals. The R3 is its entry-level direct drive wheel base, and this bundle is MOZA’s first that’s officially licensed by Microsoft for the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. It works on Windows PCs too.

In the box:

  • The R3 wheel base: 3.9 Nm of peak torque in an aluminum X-shaped housing
  • An Xbox-layout racing wheel: 11 inches, aluminum rim, PU grips, 22 buttons, RGB rev lights and a quick release
  • SR-P Lite pedals: steel, gas and brake (no clutch), with Hall sensors and adjustable spacing
  • A table clamp, power supply, cables and a toolkit

How does it work?

Most cheap wheels use a motor with belts or gears to push back against your hands. Direct drive means the wheel sits right on the motor shaft. Nothing in between, so road bumps, grip loss and curbs reach your hands faster and with more detail.

You clamp the base to a desk, plug it into the Xbox or PC with USB and set up force feedback and pedals in MOZA’s Pit House software on PC or the MOZA phone app. MOZA lists Forza Horizon, F1, Assetto Corsa, Project CARS and DiRT Rally among the supported games.

The good and the not-so-good

What I like:

  • Direct drive at this price, on an Xbox. For me, that combination is the whole point of this bundle.
  • It’s small. Reviewers note the base is more compact than older entry wheels like the Logitech G923, so it fits on a normal desk.
  • Everything is included. No separate clamp to buy, no wheel sold separately.
  • Buyers rate it 4.7 out of 5 on MOZA’s own shop, where a few say it’s a great way into the hobby for the money.

What could be better:

  • 3.9 Nm is entry level. It’s plenty for most people, but serious sim racers will want a stronger base later. One buyer already wished for more force feedback.
  • Xbox support is game by game. OverTake found a major racing sim on Xbox that didn’t work with it, and one buyer complains that add-ons like a shifter or handbrake only work in a few Xbox games.
  • No PlayStation support. No clutch pedal either.
  • You need a sturdy desk (or a rig) to clamp it to. A wobbly folding table and 3.9 Nm are not friends.

Who is the MOZA R3 for?

Xbox and PC players who love racing games and want to feel the road for the first time. It also makes a great big gift for the Forza Horizon or F1 fan in the family.

Skip it if you’re on PlayStation, or if you only race now and then. A controller and a good chair will do. Looking for something more casual and silly for the whole family? Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit races real RC karts around your living room. And if you don’t own an Xbox yet, the Xbox Series S is the cheap way in.

Where can I buy the MOZA R3?

MOZA sells this bundle on Amazon. At the time of writing (October 2026) it’s about 340 bucks. Make sure you pick the “for Xbox & PC” bundle: there’s also a cheaper PC-only version that won’t work on an Xbox.

Your thumbs can retire now.
