A lot of monitors in home offices stand on something that was never meant to hold a monitor. A stack of books. A shoebox. The Gizmodo writer who covered this product admitted his are on cardboard boxes.

The Nanoleaf Smart LED Monitor Stand is a wooden monitor riser with lights built in: a white task light that shines down on your keyboard and a colored backlight that washes the wall behind your screen. Nanoleaf made it together with a brand called FANTAQI.

Shelf, desk lamp and bias lighting in one plank. I like it.

What is the Nanoleaf Smart LED Monitor Stand?

It’s a 100 cm (about 39 inch) wide bar of multilayer wood with a walnut veneer, 22.5 cm deep, on two legs. It lifts your monitor about four inches and leaves room underneath to slide your keyboard away. Engadget says it handles displays up to 42 inches long. It holds up to 70 kg (154 lb) with its center support column and 28 kg without it.

Along the bar are 23 standard quarter-inch threaded holes, so you can screw a webcam, a mic or a small light right into the stand.

Nanoleaf quietly put it on sale in late July 2026. Engadget wrote it up on July 26, and Gizmodo said Nanoleaf “sneakily released” it that weekend.

How does it work?

There are two light channels:

  • The front task light uses white LEDs with a CRI of 97, up to 550 lumens, tunable from a warm 1,700K to a cool 6,500K. It points down at your desk, and Yanko Design reports an anti-glare rating of UGR below 10.
  • The rear ambient light has 102 individually addressable RGB zones and spreads over 160 degrees across the wall.

You control it with five touch buttons on the front edge, the Nanoleaf app, or your smart home. It speaks Matter over Thread and Wi-Fi, so it works with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings and Home Assistant. Gizmodo notes that the detailed gradients and effects still need Nanoleaf’s own app. With Nanoleaf’s desktop app, the backlight can copy the colors on your screen (Screen Mirror), and there’s a music mode too.

The good and the not-so-good

The good: it replaces three things (a riser, a desk lamp and an LED strip taped to the back of your monitor) with one piece of furniture. The walnut looks like a desk accessory, not a gaming accessory. And if you already have other Nanoleaf lights, it syncs with them.

The not-so-good: there’s no power adapter in the box. You need your own USB-C charger of 15W or more. It’s also a meter wide, so measure your desk first. And it’s a lot of money for a shelf if you never touch the lights.

Who is the Nanoleaf Smart LED Monitor Stand for?

Anyone with a home office that looks a bit sad on video calls, and streamers who want a clean backlight without strips everywhere. It pairs nicely with a good mouse like the Logitech MX Master 4 or a Moft smart desk mat if you’re building a whole desk upgrade as a gift.

Skip it if you only want better light on your keyboard. A monitor light bar like the BenQ ScreenBar Pro does that without a new shelf. And if your monitor sits on an arm, you don’t need a riser at all.

Where can I buy the Nanoleaf Smart LED Monitor Stand?

It’s on Amazon for about 153 bucks at the time of writing (October 2026), down from its list price of 170. Nanoleaf also sells it on its own site.

Throw away the shoebox. Your monitor deserves better.
