Some people carry a flashlight. Some people carry a flashlight, a UV light for scorpions and pet stains, and a laser pointer for pointing at stars and annoying the cat. The second group needs a bigger pocket. Or this.

The Wuben X5 is a flat EDC flashlight with three light sources in one aluminum body: a bright white light, a 365nm UV light and a green laser. It’s the flashlight maker’s first flat light and its tenth-anniversary flagship. Wuben showed a prototype at the ISPO trade show in 2025, and the finished X5 went on sale in June 2026.

What is the Wuben X5?

It’s a slab-shaped flashlight, about 5.4 inches long according to Wuben, made to ride in a pocket on its clip. Flat lights are the current EDC trend because they don’t roll and don’t print a big tube through your jeans. If you’ve seen the Olight Arkfeld Ultra, it’s the same idea with a different set of tricks.

According to Wuben, you get:

  • A white light with five levels, from 1 lumen up to 1,300 lumens on turbo. Turbo drops to about 400 lumens for longer runs.
  • A 2W UV light at 365nm, the kind that makes stains and leak-detection dye glow.
  • A green laser that can run on its own or together with the white light or the UV light.
  • A 1,200mAh rechargeable battery that charges over USB-C in about an hour and a half. Wuben says it can also run on AAA batteries as a backup.
  • An IP65 rating (splash-proof, not swim-proof) and a 6061 aluminum body.

The braided lanyard doubles as the USB-C charging cable, which is the kind of tiny detail I love.

How does it work?

A wheel on the side picks the main light: white, UV, or lock (so it doesn’t switch on in your pocket). The tail switch works in two stages, half-press for momentary light and a full click to keep it on. The laser has its own button, so you don’t cycle through modes to reach it.

The good and the not-so-good

What I like:

  • Three tools in one flat body, and the laser can stay on while you use the flashlight.
  • Independent tests back up the numbers. A reviewer on Budget Light Forum measured about 1,331 lumens on turbo. Gear Diary gave it five out of five.
  • The lock position on the wheel. Pocket lights that turn on by themselves are a classic.
  • Early Amazon buyers like it for car work (UV dye finds A/C leaks) and night dog walks.

What could be better:

  • Two Amazon reviewers say the metal clip worked loose, one even after thread locker.
  • No magnet. Two buyers say they missed it.
  • One buyer called the ergonomics odd and said it takes patience to learn all the ways to turn it on.
  • Wuben’s own pages list different beam distances (118 meters in some places, 200 in others), so I’m not quoting one. The US Amazon listing also calls the laser a “green light”, though buyers confirm it’s a laser.

Who is the Wuben X5 for?

Flashlight nerds, campers, mechanics, home inspectors and pet owners hunting for “accidents” on the carpet. It’s a great gift for the person whose keychain already looks like a hardware store.

If you only need white light, a simpler single-beam light is cheaper and easier to use. For cold camping trips, pair it with a set of rechargeable hand warmers and a power bank to charge it all.

Where can I buy the Wuben X5?

Wuben sells the X5 on Amazon through its own store, in black and gray. It was about 80 bucks at the time of writing (October 2026), with 4.4 stars from 138 ratings. Wuben’s own shop says this Class 3R laser version is only sold in the US and Canada for now.

A flashlight, a blacklight and a laser walk into a pocket. Take my money!
