Fitbit Charge 5

The Charge 5 is the latest in Fitbit wearable health trackers. Like its predecessors you’re able to track your workout progress and heart rate in a slick new casing. It’s the first Charge featuring a color AMOLED screen, which is always on, so you can track important metrics and the time by glancing at it. The watch has been slimmed down and the new Charge 5 now has a rounder design, making it a friendlier piece on your wrist.

Who do I need the new Charge 5?

The all new AMOLED screen is glorious to look at. It’s 2x brighter than the Charge 4 and always on, meaning you won’t have a heart time seeing the most important things while working out during daytime. It does cut down the battery life significantly, but you’re able to turn it off to preserve your battery charge for a longer time if you wish.

Another new feature coming with Fitbit’s Charge 5 is a Daily Readiness metric. With it, it’s able to tell you whether you’re ready for a new workout or that you need to plan a recovery day for best long term results.

Just like the more expensive Fitbit Sense, the new Charge contains both an ECG and EDA sensor, helping you to monitor your heart rate (for working out and irregularities) as well as your stress level. In case the EDA sensor sees regularly increased stress, you can plan a meditation session through a Fitbit and Calm partnership, available in the Premium subscription.

New for the Charge line of Fitbits is the built-in GPS, allowing you to see your real-time pace & distance without your phone and see a map of your workout route in the Fitbit app.

Like other models, the Charge 5 contains many other tracking and smart features. It also helps to monitor your sleep, provides activity tracking and workout goals and with Fitbit Pay you can also pay for orders without taking out your phone. The tracker can also show important notifications, which, for mental well-being can be snoozed as well of course.
