The Stylophone turned famous with the use in Bowie’s classic Space Oddity track. If you didn’t know yet, a Stylophone is a tiny and cheap pocket synthesizer that you can play with a stylus. To commemorate David Bowie’s musical legacy, creator Dubreq has released a limited edition David Bowie version of their loved synth. It has a white finish, contains an embossed Bowie logo and includes further David Bowie memorabilia.

Why do I need this?

The Stylophone was actually created as a child’s toy in the sixties, and Bowie reportedly hated the thing. It ended up on Space Oddity because of his friend Marc Bolan, who owned one.

If you’re a music lover or a Bowie fan, this tiny synth is a really nice collectible. Next to the white finish and the Bowie logo, the package includes a commemorative booklet that explores Bowie’s music. It features photography from throughout his career, including several previously unpublished shots of Bowie courtesy of Tony Visconti, Mark Adams and The David Bowie Archive

For musicians, the Stylophone remains one of the cheapest synths money can buy you. Be sure to check out some YouTube videos to grow familiar with its distinct sound.

Just like the traditional S-1 Stylophone, the Bowie edition can run on 3X AA batteries and has a 3 way octave and vibrato switch.

It contains a tiny speaker, but also has a headphone out in case you don’t want to annoy your environment while you’re getting familiar playing keys with a stylus.
