Technics SL-1200MK7, a Redefined, Classic DJ Turntable

I regretted selling my Technics SL-1200MK2 back in the day. Sure, I needed some money to invest in other gear while my turntable collected dust. It was however the most durable piece of gear I’ve ever owned and on top of that Technics decided to discontinue their famous vinyl turntable for DJ’s. Now, the SL-1200 is back, with the new and improved MK7. This time around the 1200 carries an affordable price tag again, so for any DJ’s that made the same stupid decision as I did, it’s time to buy one again.

What’s new on the Technics SL-1200MK7?

  • Matte black finish
  • Improved direct-drive motor (stable performance)
  • New tone-arm with minimal stylus jumping
  • new microcomputer to enhance scratching performance
  • Reverse playback mode
  • Detachable power and phone cables(!)
  • Blue LED light

Otherwise the SL1200MK7 sports the same design as its predecessors, why change a winning team, right?

Where can I buy the SL1200MK7?

The new Technics turntable (SL1200MK7 in Japan and US or SL1210MK7 in Europe and the UK) should be available for sale in May 2019 for a price tag of around $1200.
